Daylight Improves MoodS, Energy & productivity!

Blue Light Matters

Our bodies were designed to be accustomed to high levels of natural daylight which has a high blue content [because the sky is blue]. It's been known for decades that lack of light causes depression and weight gain. Conversely, high light levels increase factory productivity. The accepted cure for SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder, a/k/a winter blues) is bright light therapy. Dairy farmers even use light to get cows to milk more. Heifers will also grow faster with more lean muscle and less fat.

Blue Light energizes

But in the last 10 years, it's been established that these favorable biological impacts are due to just the blue light. Blue light controls our biological clock by suppressing the production of melatonin , the hormone that puts us to sleep. It's not that we need to see blue light. Rather blue light stimulates the pineal gland, deep inside the brain to keep us bright, alert, and productive.

Our High Color Temperature Daylight fixtures can supply the blue light your body needs. Blue light has been scientifically proven to reduce fatigue [by 27%] while improving alertness [by 28%] and productivity [by 19%] ! I've personally used them for most of my adult life to get the energy I need to get all my work done.

In 2007, The Journal of Circadian Rhythms, quantified the effect blue light on worker performance as shown below. All the scientists did is change the color temperature of the light bulbs being used:

Area Percentage Improvement over baseline measure

Fatigue 26.9%

Concentration 36.8%

Daytime Alertness 28.1%

Feelings of Weakness 26.7%

Light-headedness 33.7%

Sleepiness 31.0%

Work Performance 19.4%

Alertness & Concentration 22.9%

Vitality 28.4%

Mental Health 13.9%

Data is from: The Effect of High Correlated Colour Temperature Office Lighting on Employee Well Being and Work Performance, Journal of Circadian Rhythms, 2007.

As you can see, blue light unlocks economic gains from worker well being and productivity. So a bright work light that simulates natural daylight can do double duty as a "light therapy" to make you more productive.

Further more, your eyes were made to see and process, high blue content daylight.
